Business awards are validation, recognition, a celebration and great PR for your business. If it’s time to put yourself on the award podium, then read MNC co-founder and Director Sara Gueil’s top tips for a WINNING submission.
Read the criteria for entering.
It sounds obvious but there is no point in wasting your time if you don’t fit the criteria. If in doubt, phone the organisers to check.
Make time for your submission
Be prepared to spend time preparing the submission. Look at your diary to find a chunk of time to dedicate to the task. Make sure you address all points asked for in the award you are entering. Use lots of evidence to demonstrate your suitability to be the winner!
By using evidence, you bring your application to life, helping the judges to truly see who you are and how you help people. Use lots of photos, client testimonials, & links to any press coverage. Better still take snapshots of the coverage and include as supporting documents.
Include your contact details
Yes, it sounds like a basic requirement (but people still forget). Remember to include your contact details. And make them obvious! If a judge has a question they will want to call you quickly without spending time searching for your number. Don’t forget to include your social media links and your website.
Just DO it
Give it a go! There are local, regional and national awards. Judged and voted for. There are also industry-specific ones too. Something for everyone. Don’t underestimate the power (and satisfaction) of writing award-winning on your bio.
